Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, established in 1958, is the apex R&D institute for mechanical engineering and allied disciplines under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which is an Autonomous Body under the Government of India. The Institute is also offering 2 years Post-Graduate degree in Mechatronics in collaboration with Bengal Engineering and Science University, Sibpur and other CSIR Institutes. The present priority areas of research of the institute are: Robotics and Mechatronics, Microsystem Technology, Rapid Prototyping and Modeling, Clean Energy, Farm Machineries, Residual Life Enhancement, and Advanced Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Simulation & Modeling.

Number of Vacancies : 14 posts (UR-10, SC-2, SC-1, PH-1)
Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 grade pay Rs.6600/-
Age : 35 years
Scientist Gr. IV (3)
Number of Vacancies: 10 posts (UR-8, SC-1, SC-1, OBC-1)
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 grade pay Rs.7600/-
Age : 40 years
Scientist Gr. IV (5)
Number of Vacancies: 02 posts (UR)
Pay Scale : PB-3 Rs.37400-67000 grade pay Rs.8900/-
Age : 50 years
