Steel Authority Of India Limited(SAIL) Durgapur Is Hiring 60 Posts of Junior Technician / Operator In 2010

Applications are invited for the following posts:

Junior Technician/ Operator: 60 (Sixty) nos. [No. of posts may vary as per the requirement of the plant at the time of selection]
Pay: Rs.4000/- in the scale of pay of Rs.4000-3%-5600 in S-1 grade. The Pay Scale is under revision. Other allowances are admissible as applicable to regular employees of the Company.
Age: 50 (Fifty) years as on 01.03.2010 (1st March, 2010). Relaxation to SC/ST and OBC candidates will be given as per the Presidential Directives.
Reservation: Reservations for SC/ST/OBC categories will be provided as per Presidential Directives

Eligibility Conditions:
Experience Minimum 15 (Fifteen) years of work experience in any of the following Operational Skills in an Integrated Steel Plant.
a) Regulation & maintenance of anchorage in Coke Ovens
b) Cleaning, de-bricking, lining, knife-edge sealing and mechanical repairs of oven doors in Coke Ovens.
c) Mechanical & hydraulic repairs of Coke Oven battery Machines.
d) Coke oven top spillage recycling through hot charging.
e) Zonal de-bricking of ovens, re-laying of bricks & mechanical repairs of Coke Ovens.
f) Tube cleaning, tube expanding, pneumatic and hydraulic testing of heat exchangers of Coal Chemical Plant.
g) Insulation of hot and cold surfaces in integrated steel plants.
h) Repair & maintenance of equipment for recovery & handling of ferrous scrap.
i) Maintenance of consolidated pipelines & valve chambers of industrial water supply system
j) Gas cutting & welding at heights, laminating structures/sheeting at height (up to 100 feet), fabrication and erection of structures in integrated steel plants.
k) Repair & replacement of structurals in Furnace, Highlines, GCP, PCM, LRS etc.
l) Process service line maintenance in Coal Chemicals

Physical Standard:
Height: Minimum 155 Cm; Weight: 45Kg; Chest: 75cm & 79 cm on expansion
Distant vision: 6/9 both eyes with or without glasses
Near Vision: J1 or N6 both eyes Power of glasses should not exceed (+) or (-) 2.50 Colour blind candidates are not eligible.
Hearing: Normal

Selection Procedure:
Skill Test followed by Interview. Skill test will be of 100 marks and interview of 50 marks. Pass marks for the skill test & interview separately is 60 % for general category candidates and 50 % for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Candidates passing in the skill test will be called for interview on the basis of their position in the merit list in the ratio 1:6. Candidates will be selected on the basis of aggregate marks (skill test marks + interview marks). Appointment offer will be issued to candidates found fit in medical examination.

Job Description:
Selected candidates will be required to work in shifts operating round the clock, at heights and/ or below the ground level along with moving equipments or along with hot or molten materials and must be familiar with safe working practices in integrated steel plants.

Processing Fees:
Rs. 200/- for General & OBC candidates, Rs.50/- for SC/ST candidates by a Non- Refundable A/C Payee Demand Draft /Banker’s Cheque issued by any branch of State Bank of India drawn in favour of SAIL – A/C DSP and payable at Durgapur only.
