There is recruitment for Class 1 officer’s cadre which requires you to attend the examinations and interviews. In order to be eligible to be called for the exam you need to apply to the General Manager, RBISB in the prescribed format in the advertisement that has been released by them.
For most posts of staff Officers that is Grade B the order followed is:
- Objective Test
- Written Test and
- Interview
The Recruitment to Reserve Bank Officers ‘Grade ‘A’/'B’ exam is conducted by Reserve Bank of India Service Board at Mumbai.
For specialized posts such as Security Assistant Managers, Legal Officers, Technical Managers and Librarians etc there is only an interview and no written test.
Each of the rounds in the tests are elimination rounds. If you do not clear the round you will not be allowed to move on to the next one.
Once you have cleared all the rounds you will get an Offer of Appointment. After you agree there will be a medical test, police clearance and a referral from your previous employer.
There are several job profiles that you could don at the RBI based on your qualifications and interests. The RBI serves as the monetary authority, the supervisor of the Financial Currency, the Issuer of Currency, the manager of currency, the banker to the Government and so forth. The Openings are available in the RBI at various levels, from Bank Clerical to Officers. This is perceived as a career option for students of the commerce and economics stream but in reality graduates from all streams of education are eligible for the exams conducted. You must be above twenty one and below thirty and an Indian citizen. There are some relaxations available for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and people serving in the armed forces.
Education Qualification & Eligibility for RBI Exam:
- A First Class Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade OR
- A Second Class Master’s Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade OR
- A Doctorate Degree with 50% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent grade OR
- A Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM only.
