Engagement of contractual Project Scientists C on purely contract basis in National Centre or Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida

Job Details : Applications are invited from Indian citizens for engaging 10 (ten) Project Scientist “C” in the consolidated amount of Rs.38,000/- (fixed) for engagement on Project Mode (Contract) basis in National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida a subordinate office of this Ministry for a period of one year.

Number of Posts : 10
Remuneration: Rs.38,000/- (fixed)

Desired :
(i) Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology/Oceanography/ Atmospheric Science/ Physics/ Geophysics/ Mathematics/ Applied
Mathematics and related field of science from a recognized university with at least first class (60%) at Post Graduation level.

AND

Three years experience in the above fields. Familiarity with UNIX Fortran. Research scholars who have done/completed their Ph.D or at
least submitted their thesis would be considered equal to 3 years work experience.

OR

(ii) Master’s Degree/B.Tech. or equivalent in Computer Science from a recognized University with at least first class (60%) at Post
Graduation/B.Tech. level

AND

Three years experience in scientific computing environment. Familiarity with UNIX Fortran/C/C++

OR

(iii) M.Tech degree and two years research experience in the relevant field as per (i) above.

OR

(iv) Ph.D in the relevant field as per (i) above with familiarity in UNIX.Fortran/C/C++

Desirable:
Knowledge of Shell scripting/OOP/SQL. Experience in handling different message passing environments like MPI. Open MP, PVM, parallel programs in FORTRAN and C. Knowledge of the concepts in parallel programming e.g. communication between processors, concurrency, load balancing, scalability etc.
Experience in porting/optimization of Mathematical Models/Atmospheric Models on HPC cluster based environment. Structured Query Language (SQL) and scripting languages like Perl, Phython etc.

Note:

The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of Secretary, MoES in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, if at any stage of selection, the Secretary, MoES is of the opinion that sufficient number of
candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies.

Age : 35 years

Job Responsibilities:
Meteorological Data processing, Assimilation of conventional and satellite data in Atmospheric General Circulation Models. Numerical Modeling of the atmosphere. Development of Multi-Model Ensemble Forecasting techniques. To undertake development work related to the generation of a high-resolution regional reanalysis over our region utilizing all the available data and state-of-art assimilation system. Porting of Mathematical (Atmospheric) Models on HPC cluster based environment. Simulate mathematical models with the real time data sets. Optimization of Mathematical Models.
