About IIITD&M, Kancheepuram:
Globalization has created uniformity in customer expectations world over. With opening up of Indian economy, our manufacturing sector has to compete globally even for the domestic market. This would require strong products with leading technology / quality and compelling cost advantage. Suitably trained manpower with skill sets appropriate for design, development and prototyping using modern IT tools is critical to achieve this goal. This Institute is envisioned as an academic institution of excellence that would facilitate and promote the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets. This Institute will serve as an inter-disciplinary institution for education and research in the area of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) encompassing design and manufacturing using state of the art concepts, tools, processes and practices of the industry world over.
IIT Madras has been entrusted with the responsibility of setting up this Institute. Classes will be conducted in the IIT Madras campus till Institute’s facilities are created. Strong industry interface and close cooperation with other academic and research institutions will be the key features of this Institute.
This Institute will give emphasis on synthesis, creativity, hands-on experience, innovation, communication and entrepreneurship. These qualities along with basic knowledge of design and manufacturing technologies will form the ethos of education at this Institute.
Applications in the prescribed format are invited from suitable Indian Nationals for the following posts:
Junior Technician – 3 Posts (Unreserved)
Pay Band-1 Rs.5200-20200 with grade pay of Rs.2,000/-
Area 1 – Electrical and Electronics
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering of three years duration Knowledge of computer app.
Desirable: Familiarity with electrical drives, testing, validation etc., and handling lab classes for students
Area 2 – Mechanical
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering of three years duration or ITI (course of 12 months duration after completion of SSLC) in Machinist or Fitter Trade with minimum of 5 years relevant experience and Knowledge of computer applications.
Desirable: Familiarity with the operation of different workshop machines, and experience in handling lab classes for students
Area 3 – Physics
Bachelor’s degree in Physics. Knowledge of computer applications.
Desirable: Familiarity with Physics laboratory experiments and handling lab classes for students
Junior Accountant – 1 Post (Unreserved)
Pay Band-1 Rs. 5200-20200 with grade pay of Rs.2,400/-
B.Com with 2 years relevant experience and knowledge of accounting software
Junior Assistant – 4 Posts (UR-3; OBC-1)
Pay Band-1 Rs. 5200-20200 with grade pay of Rs.2,000/-
Bachelor’s Degree with knowledge of computer office applications

Upper Age Limit (as on the closing date of receipt of applications): 27 years
Age: is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Government of India norms.
Reservation: As per Government of India norms.
1.The post carries retirement/ terminal benefits as per Govt. of India norms.
2.The SC/ST & OBC candidates are required to attach the Caste Certificate as per the format prescribed by the Govt. of India.
3.The candidates applying for more than one post must use separate Application form for each post (along with required demand draft in original) and send them in separate cover super-scribed with the name of the post applied for. However they may use the photocopy of the Application Form.
4.Persons serving in Govt./ Semi-Govt./ PSUs should send their application either THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL or should furnish a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE at the time of interview. They can, however, send an advance copy along with DEMAND DRAFT in original.
5.Requirement of experience is relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority in the cases of SCs and STs. The Institute reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications/ experience in exceptional cases of meritorious candidates. Higher initial basic pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidate(s).
6.The Institute reserves its right to place a reasonable limit on the total number of candidates to be called for test or interview. Fulfillment of qualifications per-se does not entitle a candidate to be called for test or interview. The institute reserves the right not to fill up the posts, cancel the advertisement in whole or in part without assigning any reason and its decision in this regard shall be final.
7.The selection process will generally consist of written/ trade test and/ or interview. No TA will be paid for written test. However, outstation candidates called for interview will be paid second/ sleeper class rail fare for to and fro journey by the shortest route on production of original tickets.
8.Applications should be accompanied with a non-refundable demand draft of Rs.100/- for all the posts in favour of “The Registrar, IIITD&M Kancheepuram” payable at Chennai. The issuing date of demand draft should be within the duration of Advertisement. Demand Draft will not be refunded or re-adjusted under any circumstances. No other mode of payment will be accepted, and such applications will be rejected forthright and the payment made shall stand forfeited. SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates are not required to submit the demand draft.
9.Although the vacancies have been shown discipline-wise for internal administrative purposes, the Institute reserves the right to assign the selected candidates elsewhere and appointment will be offered accordingly.
10.Incomplete applications/ without relevant supporting enclosures/ without prescribed demand draft/ application not in the prescribed format will be out rightly rejected. Institute will not be responsible for any postal delay. Interim correspondence will not be entertained and replied to.
11.Canvassing in any form will be treated as a disqualification for the post.
12.
