Eligibility:

There are some general eligibility parameters laid down in order for you to be eligible to apply.

• You must be an Indian national. Subjects of (subjects of Bhutan, Nepal, Tibetan refugees or migrants from the rest of the Indian subcontinent with the intention of settling permanently in India can also apply).
• You must be physically fit in line with the prescribed physical standards.
• You must be unmarried males or female.
• You must be between the ages of 16 ½ to 27 years

How to Apply:

There is a common written test that is conducted for entry into the Army, Navy and the Air Force. The advertisements for this are released in all the newspapers and one needs to get the application forms from the designated post offices.

Selection Process and Syllabus:

The selection process is strenuous and such that only the very best can make it. The syllabus is included in the application form.

Firstly, there is a written test for:

• Mathematics-2 1/2 hours-300 marks
• General Ability-2 1/2 hours-600 marks

Those who clear the written test need to appear for an intelligence and personality test. This is conducted by the Services Selection Board. This is to assess the candidate’s potential for the chosen field and for which branch of the defense will they be best suited for.

As a part to their curriculum they not only concentrate on the subjects but of building a complete all rounded personality.
